DO IT WELL

TOPIC: EXCELLENCE

FOUNDATION SCRIPTURE: Romans 12:6-11 (KJV)
6. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7. Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8. Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
9. Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 10. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 11. Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: DO IT WELL

All Scripture is written truth, and it has the power to make us free. Jesus said, "you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). There is tremendous power in the written Word of God, but for the individual, however, it is only potential power until they know it for themselves.

Now, becoming aware of something, hearing words, or even memorizing them is not the same as knowing them. If you know and don't do, you don't know. For, nothing grows by time, nothing grows by desire, nothing grows by wishes, but all things grow by truth. Therefore, you must find out what it takes and then give it what it takes, or it will never grow.

When a person discovers the proper meaning of Scripture, they are faced with a choice to either reject the discovery or embark on a journey to apply it to their life until it becomes a part of them. The moment it becomes a part of them, the Scripture is now known by them and makes them free.

A couple of years ago at church, someone came to me one day with the Scripture, Romans 12:6-11, saying, "We should wait on our ministry." They thought we shouldn't do what was needed unless instructed, so I explained that the Bible never teaches us to wait on our ministry. On the contrary, God wants us to jump out there. Then, He will guide us and show us what to do as we go. They have taken the initiative and are doing much good with this new revelation.

"Waiting on your ministry" has to do with the skill level you serve, like a waiter who waits on a restaurant table. The unskilled tend to underperform, while skilled and knowledgeable ones provide excellent service. So, when the Scripture says to "wait" on your ministry, it is talking about serving well in your calling.

So, for example, if your calling is to be a worship leader, you must practice for hours daily to develop and maintain your skill. You wouldn't limit your practice to a scheduled rehearsal once a week. The calling of a worshipper also demands that you consecrate yourself to the Lord and abstain from carnality because you carry and channel God's Presence.

If you are a musician, you should be practicing for 2 to 3 hours daily. If you are a preacher or teacher, you should study and teach every day to develop and maintain your skill level (even if there is no audience). If you are a writer, write daily. If you are an artist, draw daily. Whatever your calling, whether business, education, ministry, arts, entertainment, and so on, you should work on your craft every day.

In this present day, there are no excuses. We have Google and YouTube at our fingertips. If you don't have a personal mentor, go online, find someone great at what you do or something similar, and be mentored by watching their videos. Then practice what you learn. Practice every day, whether alone or in front of people. Record yourself, if applicable, so you can know what needs more focus to do better.

Remember this: Who God called you to be is who you indeed are, and you should put all your energy into being great at it. God intends for your calling to sustain your life, serve your fellow man and glorify Him.

You may give easily and securely using the Giving tab below on the app or the Give page on our website. May God bless you according to His promise in the Scripture below.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8
But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

Notice: Until you are born again (from above), you will never know the riches of God's love and tender mercy towards you. You must be born again to enjoy lasting victory in this world. Please say the displayed prayer below in faith:

Dear Lord, I come to You now, just as I am.  You know my life.  You know how I've lived.  Forgive me, Lord.  I repent of my sins.  I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died for my sins, and on the third day, He rose from the dead. Lord Jesus, I ask you to come into my heart.  Live Your life in me and through me from now on.  From this day forward, I belong to You, in the Name of Jesus, Amen."

The very moment you commit your life to Jesus Christ, the truth of His Word instantly comes to pass in your spirit. If you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, a miracle has just taken place in your life, and there's a brand-new you!  CONGRATULATIONS! Welcome to the Kingdom of God.

Please contact us and tell us that you've prayed to receive Jesus as your Savior.
